Hassan: Former Minister H. D. Revanna said that bringing an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Centre to District has been Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda’s dream for many years and I have the courage to do whatever I have in my dream. He urged everyone to support him irrespective of Party affiliations.

He threatened to stage a protest in front of the Gandhi statue near Vidhana Soudha under the leadership of H. D. Deve Gowda in case if the space is given for any other purpose.

Speaking to the mediapersons at the MP’s Residence in the City, he said that the H. D. Devegowda met Union Human Resource Development Minister. “IIT was given to Rajasthan only because Former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy had gone with the BJP. No one in this State had asked for an IIT,” he said.

He informed 1,000 acres of land has already been earmarked in Hassan for IIT. When the NDA Government came to rule at the Centre, we tried with Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Smriti Irani too had agreed to give IIT to Karnataka. The then State Congress Party suggested a name other than Hassan. A few days ago, H. D. Deve Gowda in his Rajya Sabha speech discussed the IIT issue and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reviewed it. He has proposed to Deve Gowda about the IIT issue, he added.

“However few are planning to use the land reserved for the IITs for some vested interests and other purposes. H. D Deve Gowda has written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard. The CM has assured that the IIT space will not be used for any other purpose. I have no personal motive in this. My aim is to benefit the youth of the District and the State,” he said.
