Hassan: A man named Basavegowda had illegally encroached on a bus stand and constructed a compound at Baskal on the border of Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru Taluk. On the order to clear it, the villagers cleared the compound to make a bus stop at the same place as it was earlier.
Speaking on the occasion, Kalleri Gram Panchayat Member Srinivas said that Basavegowda and Dinesh had encroached on the bus stand as it was earlier. But they did not clear it and now the Nandipura Panchayat has cleared it. Our appeal is that no party worker should be appeased, he said.
Speaking later, Ramesh said that Manjunath of Gendehalli had given the land to make a bus stand in Nandipura Panchayat on the border of the Taluk. Basavegowda and his son had encroached upon the bus stand which had been in existence for nearly 50 years and it was helping everyone. I would like to thank the Gram Panchayat and the villagers in the vicinity for their cooperation, he said.
