Hassan: An incident has come to light in Hassan City where the EMI message for the first month’s installment was received even before the car was delivered to a customer.
The allegations were levelled against a Toyota showroom at Dairy Circle in the City and a message was received on January 28 that an Innova ICross booked. Sandesh, a resident of Kyathanahalli village in Alur Taluk, received the message.
“The showroom staff said that instead of the Innova ICross car, we will offer the Innova Crysta. A message has been sent that Rs 21 lakh 39 thousand has been paid for the car. The staff then told me that there was only one car with a speed limit of 80 kmph, and I should take it,” he claimed. Sandesh had brought this to the attention of the showroom Manager.
The showroom Manager had promised to deliver the car he booked by the end of July, but a message came to Sandesh’s mobile on Sunday July 9 asking him to pay an EMI of Rs 41,149,000.
After receiving the message, Sandesh visited the showroom and inquired about it with the Manager. The Manager and staff said they would replace the booked car with another car.
“I have paid a total of Rs 20 lakh including Rs 5 lakh in cash and Rs 15 lakh as loan amount. But without the car being delivered, they have only sent an EMI, and the customers are being cheated by the staff of the showroom. The agency should investigate this. No such injustice should be done to any customer,” he said.
“What is the justice in sending a message asking me to pay the EMI without delivering the car? That money has to be paid by the showroom itself,” he added. Sandesh demanded that steps be taken to ensure that no such customer is cheated in the future.
