Hassan: Tussle between BJP leaders, Vijaya Sankalp Yatra cancelled

Hassan: The tussle between the BJP Leaders in Belur Taluk, has turned the heat on the BJP top brass who had come for the Vijay Sankalp Yatra on Thursday March 10 as the BJP leaders in Belur cut short their Vijay Sankalp Yatra scheduled to be held in Belur and left for Sakleshpura.

The ‘Vijaysankalpa Yatra’ started from Jawagal in Belur Assembly Constituency of Hassan District and was scheduled to start at 10.00 am at 12.00 pm. Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and Shobha Karandlaje also participated in the Yatra.

During this time, the aspirants of Belur Assembly Constituency candidates tried to show their strength to portray the people who had gathered in the Vijay Sankalp Yatra as their achievements.

Later, when the Vijaya Sankalp Yatra reached Halebidi in Belur Taluk, as planned, while having coffee at the house of one Annappa Shetty here, a show off strength and shouting by local BJP leaders outside the house created a flutter among the Union Ministers.

A group was shouting slogans in favour of H. K. Suresh, another group was shouting slogans in favour of Siddhesh Nagendra. Another group was shouting slogans in favour of Santhosh Kenchamba.

Union Ministers Shobha Karandlaje and Pralhad Joshi, who were scheduled to take a helicopter from Halebidu to Sakleshpura via Belur – Halebidu route, from Belur to Arehalli, reached Sakleshpura directly from by helicopter.

In Halebidu, when Union Ministers were at the workers’ house, supporters of aspiring candidates from Belur Assembly Constituency had gathered outside the house to join hands in groups. The police intervened and dispersed all the groups and defused the situation.

Siddhesh Nagendra and Santhosh Kenchamba, who garlanded the Statue of Ambedkar at Ambedkar Circle in Belur when the Vijay Sankalp Ratha, which was supposed to go with the Ministers from Halebidu via Belur, arrived in Belur in the absence of the Ministers.

They tried to pacify the conflict in Halebidu by saying that they would correct the mistakes made. Then the Vijaya Sankalpa chariot proceeded towards Sakleshpura.
