Love turns ugly: Lovers elope to get married, girl alleges forced conversion

Shivamogga: A love story that blossomed over facebook has now reached police station with the lovers resorting to making allegations of cheating and deception at each other.

What is surprising is the fact that the couple that went missing from Shivamogga had then sent a whatsapp message to the Shivamogga police stating that they have left their home as per their own wish and hence there was no need for the police to launch a search operation.

Ahmed (name changed) from Sheshadripuram in Shivamogga and a Christian girl from Bapujinagar here developed liking for each other after brief period of chatting online. The friendship on FB blossomed into love and within no time, the two sought permission for marriage from their family members, to which both families objected. The two then decided to elope from their homes.

Meanwhile, when the girl’s parents lodged a missing complaint with the Kote police, the cops had received a whatsapp message from the couple stating that they should not try to trace them. In the video the two were seen sitting next to each other and the girl was donning a ‘burkha’.

But, in a major twist to the story, the girl appeared before the police merely one week after eloping with Ahmed and complained that Ahmed had kept her under house arrest in a lodge in Bhatkal and forced her to get converted to Islam. But, Ahmed has argued that the girl had walked out of the house out of her own wish and that there was no force.

The versions and allegations of the two has left the police in state of fix.
