Shivamogga: Condemning the ‘Operation Lotus’ by the Bharatiya Janata Party and stating this move as “murdering of democracy’, the NSUI (National Students’ Union of India) party workers raised slogans against the BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa, here on Sunday, February 3.
As BSY, MP B Y Raghavendra and other BJP leaders were heading towards Shivamogga Railway Station for the flagging off ceremony of Janashatabdi Express train, the NSUI members began protesting against them.
The protestors said, “B S Yeddyurappa would do anything to come to power. The Congress-Janata Dal (S) coalition government is running smoothly but Yeddyurappa wants to become the chief minister once again and that’s the reason he’s attempting ‘Operation Lotus.’
“By trying to purchase the Congress and the JDS leaders, BSY is trying to murder democracy. Even though he has failed in his several attempts, he is still on it, which does not suit a senior party leader of his stature”, they added.
The Jayanagar police rushed to the spot and arrested over 42 NSUI party workers and released them later.
Youth Congress District Secretary C G Madhusudan, chief secretaries Vinay Tandle and Girish, NSUI District President H S Balaji and others participated in the protest.
