Mangaluru: To mark World Cancer Day, the A J Hospital and Research Centre, Mangaluru has organised a six-day cancer screening camp at A J Cancer Institute in the city which was formally inaugurated on Monday, February 4.
Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya head B K Vishweshwari, after inaugurating the camp, said, “If people stay away from bad habits like consuming drugs, tobacco, alcohol among others, there is a possibility of getting cured from cancer. Meanwhile, early diagnosis and proper treatment would also help in preventing people from falling victims to cancer”, she said.
A J Hospital Medical Administration Director Dr. Amitha Marla informed that the registration and consultation with renowned and experienced doctors will be free during the camp. The Outpatient (OP) investigations during the camp will be offered at 25 percent discount while the patients will get the hospital bill at a concessional rate. People aged above the age of 40, with symptoms of lump in the breast or mass in the abdomen, post-menopausal bleeding, and white discharge, recurrent cough, hoarseness of voice, difficulty in swallowing, ulcer/growth in cheek/tongue or swelling in the neck can visit the hospital for screening and benefit from the camp”, she said.
Cancer surgeon Dr. Vishwanath asked the patients to make the best of the cancer screening camp which will conclude on February 9.
Consultant medical oncologist Dr. Rachan Shetty, Oncology HoD Dr. K Kamalaksha Shenoy, consultant radiation oncologists Dr. Kavitha, Dr. Venkatraman Kini, onco surgeon Dr. Naveen Rodrigues, Shaila Lobo of Indian Cancer Society among others were present.
