A 65-year-old resident of Ballalbagh, Mangaluru, has been missing for nearly two months, prompting the police to seek the public’s assistance in tracing him. The missing man, Vinod Bhoja Salian, has not been seen or heard from since September 27, despite extensive efforts by his family and police to locate him.

Left Bengaluru on Sept 27 but never reached home

According to the family, Vinod had left his daughter-in-law’s home in Bengaluru on the morning of September 27. He was expected to return to his residential complex in Ballalbagh the same day. At around 8.30 a.m., he called his daughter-in-law, informing her that he had reached Pumpwell and would contact her again after reaching home.

However, no further communication came from him. His mobile phone has remained switched off and unreachable since that morning, raising concern about his safety and whereabouts.

Handbag left at building reception

Neighbours later informed the family that Vinod had left his handbag at the reception counter of his residential complex before walking out again. After that, he was not seen by anyone in the area.

Alarmed by the unusual behaviour, his daughter-in-law travelled from Bengaluru to Mangaluru and began searching for him at the homes of relatives, public places, and nearby localities. Despite her efforts, no clues emerged. She subsequently filed a missing person’s complaint at the Barke police station.

Police release detailed description

In an effort to trace him, police have released a detailed physical description of Vinod. He is 5.6 feet tall, of sturdy build, with a round face and wheatish complexion. He is conversant in Kannada, Tulu, English, and Hindi.

At the time he went missing, he was reportedly wearing a dark blue half-sleeved shirt with white stripes and blue trousers. Police believe that any information, even seemingly insignificant, could help narrow down the search.

Appeal for public assistance

Barke police have urged the public to come forward with any information that might assist in locating Vinod. Residents of Ballalbagh and surrounding areas have also been encouraged to check CCTV footage, if available, or report any sightings.

“Any detail, no matter how small, could be crucial in tracing him,” officials said, adding that the search remains active and that all leads will be followed.

Conclusion

Nearly two months after his disappearance, Vinod’s family continues to wait anxiously for any sign of him. With police intensifying their efforts and appealing for public cooperation, authorities hope that new information will emerge to help trace the missing senior citizen.
