Mangaluru: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has announced a statewide protest, titled ‘Mysore Chalo’, scheduled for August 12, in response to the shocking discovery of a drug manufacturing unit in Mysore.
The Maharashtra Police recently unearthed the illegal facility and seized narcotics worth crores, raising alarm over the inefficiency of law enforcement and intelligence agencies at both state and central levels.
Speaking at a press briefing, Suvit Shetty, the ABVP Mangaluru Division Convener, expressed deep concern over the growing drug network in Karnataka. “This incident highlights a massive failure in surveillance and intelligence, especially in a sensitive educational hub like Mysore,” he said.
The protest march aims to demand accountability from authorities and urge stronger measures to make Karnataka drug-free. ABVP has called on students and concerned citizens to join the movement and protect youth from falling prey to narcotics.
Through ‘Mysore Chalo’, the organization seeks to pressure the government into immediate action, stronger anti-drug laws, and stricter enforcement in student-populated regions.
