Mangaluru – The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have apprehended two individuals for allegedly possessing MDMA valued at more than ₹5 lakh.

According to officials, at around 3:15 pm on Monday, CCB police sub-inspector Sudeep MV received reliable intelligence that two persons were travelling on a motorcycle to sell MDMA illegally. Acting swiftly, police set up surveillance along Azizuddin Road, Car Street, Kudroli, Ladyhill, and towards Chilimbi Gudde.

At approximately 4:35 pm, the suspects were spotted on a bike near Chilimbi Gudde Road. When questioned, they reportedly confessed to carrying the drug for sale. A search revealed that Riaz Ahmad had allegedly concealed 12.6 grams of MDMA—valued at ₹2.6 lakh—inside the motorcycle’s fuel tank cover. His associate, Mohammad Fahad, was found with 11.6 grams worth ₹2.4 lakh in his bag.

In addition to the narcotics, police confiscated two mobile phones allegedly used in the illegal trade, a digital weighing scale, 30 empty zip-lock covers, ₹1,150 in cash, the motorcycle, and the bag. All seizures were carried out in the presence of witnesses.

The arrests mark another significant bust in the city’s ongoing crackdown on synthetic drugs.
