City police have successfully arrested a notorious chain snatcher in connection with a theft at Pranav Jewellery shop near Mooru Marga. The accused, identified as Mohammed Alikhan, alias Irani Avani (32), is a resident of Jannat Nagar, Dharwad.

The theft occurred when Alikhan snatched a chain from a customer at the jewellery shop, making off with the valuable item. Following a swift investigation, police were able to trace and apprehend the suspect. Upon his arrest, the police recovered 26 grams of gold, worth an estimated Rs 1.78 lakh, from Alikhan’s possession.
Alikhan has been charged with theft and will face legal proceedings in court. His arrest has been hailed as a significant breakthrough in curbing chain-snatching crimes in the city.
