Children organize food fest to fund education of underprivileged children
On Republic Day and Bible Sunday, the Missionary Children’s Society of St Anne’s Church, Thottam, held a vibrant food fest that stole the spotlight. Remarkably organized by children, the event aimed to support the education of underprivileged kids. The church hall transformed into a bustling marketplace filled with enthusiasm and compassion.
Inaugurating the event, parish priest Fr. Dennis D’Sa praised the children’s noble efforts, saying, “This initiative by our young ones, from classes 3 to 10, showcases their empathy and dedication. The proceeds will be directed toward helping needy children access education. Such selfless acts deserve recognition and applause.”
He further stressed the value of instilling kindness, sharing, and altruism early, emphasizing that fostering these virtues in children can shape a more equitable and harmonious society.
The event buzzed with activity as nearly 50 children, with parental support, prepared and sold a variety of homemade dishes. Offerings ranged from fried rice, noodles, and pani puri to chicken sukka, dumplings, sandwiches, and refreshing beverages. Their efforts created a festive vibe, drawing visitors and church devotees eager to contribute to the cause.
Key community figures, including Sunil Fernandes, vice president of the Church pastoral council, and Blessilla Crasta, secretary, joined the celebration, appreciating the children’s initiative.
The event not only delighted taste buds but also united the community in a meaningful mission.
