Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has voiced serious concern over the ongoing crisis in the construction sector across Dakshina Kannada district. According to him, recent regulations and actions taken by the district administration and police department have led to a severe shortage of red stone and construction sand, which are crucial for building activities.

Kamath stated that as a direct result of these restrictions, construction projects have ground to a halt. This has had a domino effect, leaving labourers without work, contractors in distress, and the general public facing delays in essential housing and infrastructure works.

He emphasized that developmental activities in the region have taken a major hit, creating an environment of stagnation. The lack of material supply has not only disrupted ongoing projects but also discouraged new investments in the real estate and construction sectors.

The MLA urged the authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the issue, ensure smooth material flow, and allow development to resume without further setbacks. He also called for a balanced approach that considers both environmental regulations and the livelihoods of thousands dependent on the construction industry.
