A decomposing body of an unidentified man was discovered at Bikarnakatte, Mangaluru, on Monday, emitting a strong odor.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal stated that upon receiving information, officers arrived at the scene and found the remains of a man estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old. The site where the body was located belongs to Ramesh, who subsequently filed a complaint, leading to a case being registered at the East police station.
During the preliminary examination, officers found an outpatient department (OPD) slip from Wenlock Hospital inside a bag near the deceased. Hospital records revealed that the man had been admitted on February 4 via a 108 ambulance after suffering injuries from a fall, allegedly while intoxicated.
A local resident from Shivbagh identified the deceased as a ragpicker. However, since only the first name was listed on the hospital slip, authorities are working to establish his full identity. The investigation remains ongoing.
