Mangaluru: The Department of Paediatrics, Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH), along with the Department of Paediatric Nursing of Father Muller College of Nursing (FMCON) and the Department of Speech and Hearing, celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm in the Conference Hall on 15 November 2025. The event brought smiles, joy, and hope to young participants and their families.

Celebration marked by warmth and heartfelt moments

Dr Anil Shetty, Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics, opened the programme with a warm welcome, setting an uplifting tone for the celebration. The chief guest of the day was little Miss Iza, a three-year-old girl who bravely underwent a bone marrow transplant for thalassemia major. She was felicitated for her courage, and Father Muller Charitable Institutions honoured her as a symbol of strength and resilience.

The event was graced by Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director, FMCI; Rev. Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, Administrator, FMMCH; Rev. Dr Michael Santhumayor, Administrator, FMMC; Dr Antony Sylvan D’Souza, Dean, FMMC; Dr Kishan Shetty, Deputy Medical Superintendent, FMMCH; Prof. Sr Danya Devasia, Principal, FMCON; Prof. Cynthia Santhumayor, Principal, Department of Speech and Hearing; and Prof. Wilma Noronha, Head of Paediatric Nursing.

Performances, competitions and special activities add colour to the day

The celebration featured cheerful dance performances by students and staff. Young winners of drawing, reel-making and fancy-dress competitions were felicitated, and orchid plants were presented as mementos to the judges, adding a thoughtful touch.

A lively magic show by Mr Rajesh Mali and creative balloon art by Sam kept the children entertained. Face-painting counters brought extra colour and excitement, especially for the hospitalised children who joined the festivities with their families.

An event filled with togetherness and gratitude

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Shreya G. Shenoy. The combined efforts of the Paediatrics, Nursing, and Speech and Hearing departments, along with FMCI staff children and families, made the occasion a memorable and touching Children’s Day celebration—one defined by joy, courage and community spirit.
