Mangaluru: Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao unveiled posters and banners marking the launch of the registration process for the Yuva Nidhi Scheme at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat on Monday. This initiative, one of the Karnataka government’s flagship projects for 2024, aims to provide financial aid to educated yet unemployed youth.
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan MP explained that the scheme is designed for residents of Karnataka who completed professional courses, degrees, diplomas, or postgraduate studies in 2023 or 2024 and have been jobless for at least six months (180 days). Beneficiaries will receive support until they find employment or for a maximum of two years.
Eligible candidates can apply through the Seva Sindhu portal at https://sevasindhugs.karnataka.gov.in. Applications can also be submitted via Grama One, Karnataka One, or Bapuji Seva Centres. A bank account linked to Aadhaar is mandatory for direct cash transfers (DBT).
The event witnessed the presence of Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Bharath Mundodi (president of the District Level Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority), Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Anandh K, city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal, superintendent of police Yathish N, district skill development officer Pradeep D’Souza, and district employment officer YM Badiger.
The Yuva Nidhi Scheme reflects the government’s commitment to fostering economic independence among the youth by supporting them during their job search.
