The Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC) chairperson, Mala B Narayana Rao, has directed officials to expedite the development of a floating jetty designed for traditional boats. This directive was given during her visit to Mangaluru on Saturday, where she inspected the fisheries port, diesel bunks, and ice plants. The floating jetty, which is being developed by the KFDC, aims to provide a safe and convenient anchorage for traditional boats, a critical component for supporting local fishermen and enhancing their operational efficiency.

During her visit, Rao stressed the importance of accelerating the jetty’s construction to facilitate the fishermen who rely heavily on these traditional boats for their livelihood. She emphasized that the timely completion of this project is essential to support the fishing community, which is a vital part of the local economy.
