Mangaluru witnessed an energetic start to Sunday morning with the Kross Bikes Mangalore Cyclothon-2024, which drew over 1,200 participants, including schoolchildren, professional cyclists, and enthusiasts from cycling clubs. The event spotlighted road safety, responsible cycling, and fitness, especially targeting young students and their parents.
Harnish Raj of We R Cycling, the event organizers, emphasized its goal: “Raising awareness about road safety and promoting responsible cycling among students and their families.”
The rally was flagged off at 7:15 am from Mangala Stadium by Dakshina Kannada SP Yatish N, who expressed delight at the children’s enthusiastic participation. Cyclists, led by a police vehicle, safety car, and senior riders, pedaled through a 6.5 km route covering key city landmarks, including Shri Narayana Guru Circle, Lalbagh, and Jail Road, before concluding at Amrita Vidyalayam in Boloor.
A post-ride workout, conducted by Kasharp Fitness, energized participants. The valedictory ceremony featured notable guests such as R.S. Jamwal of Kross Bikes, Mukund Kamath of Ideal Ice Cream, and Yogesh Patidar of IOCL.
Adding excitement, a lucky draw rewarded two participants, Mohammad Diyan and Ewan D’Souza, with new bicycles.
The event highlighted the importance of fitness and safe cycling practices, making it a memorable occasion for all.
