Mangaluru: In a disturbing incident from Mangaluru, the Kankanady Town Police have taken into custody a police constable along with a woman’s husband on allegations of sexual exploitation.
The constable has been identified as Chandra Naik. According to Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy CH, the woman lodged a written complaint detailing the trauma she endured.
As per her statement, her husband compelled her to engage in sexual acts with another individual in exchange for money. He is accused of filming the encounter without her full consent and later using the footage to blackmail her. The husband reportedly threatened to leak the video on social media unless she agreed to similar acts with more men.
Fearing for her dignity, the woman turned to Chandra Naik—a constable attached to the Kavoor Police Station and someone she was familiar with—for assistance. Initially appearing to help, Naik visited her residence and erased the images and videos from her husband’s device.
However, the complaint further reveals that Naik, instead of safeguarding her, took advantage of her vulnerability. Allegedly, under the influence or encouragement of her husband, he sexually assaulted her as well.
Acting on her complaint, authorities filed an FIR at the Kankanady Town Police Station. Both the constable and her husband have now been arrested, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.
This incident raises serious concerns about trust and misuse of authority within law enforcement.
