Mangaluru: Kankanady Town police have registered a case against unidentified persons for allegedly transporting sand illegally from the Netravathi riverbank at Adankudru, on the outskirts of Mangaluru.
According to the police, personnel on patrol noticed a pickup vehicle allegedly carrying sand illegally from the riverbank. When the police attempted to intercept the vehicle, the driver stopped it and fled from the spot.
The police seized the pickup vehicle along with the sand being transported. Efforts are under way to identify the driver and others allegedly involved in the incident.
The case has been registered by Kankanady Town police, and further investigation is under way.
