Mangaluru: Konkani Manyatha Divas was celebrated on 15th August 2024 at the P.F.X. Saldanha Auditorium, Administrative Office of MCC Bank Ltd, to commemorate the inclusion of the Konka
ni language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The program was presided over by the chairman, Sahakara Ratna, Mr. Anil Lobo. Mr. Ronald Rodrigues, Vice President of the Pastoral Council of Valencia Church, was the guest of honor. He inaugurated the program by hoisting the Konkani flag. Mr. Jerald J. D’silva, Vice Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Sunil Menezes, General Manager, and Members of Karnataka Sahithya Academy Mr. Naveen Lobo, Mr. Ronald Crasta, and Mrs. Sapna Crasta were also present on the dais.
In his speech, Mr. Ronald Rodrigues emphasized the importance of celebrating Konkani Manyatha Divas. He urged the gathering to have a passion for the mother tongue, Konkani, and to preserve its culture for future generations.
Chairman Mr. Anil Lobo congratulated Mr. Ronald Rodrigues with a memento. In his keynote address, Mr. Anil Lobo highlighted the significance of celebrating Konkani Manyatha Divas. As a leading co-operative bank in the coastal region of Karnataka, the Bank has a responsibility towards society and will always encourage the rich cultural heritage of the Konkani language.
Various Konkani cultural programs were conducted by Sunil Siddhi & team, Nach Sobhann, Kudmi Nach Pongod, and Summel.
The directors and staff members who celebrated their silver or golden birthdays between January and August 2024 were honored by Sahakara Ratna, Mr. Anil Lobo.
The children of the directors and staff members who excelled in curricular and co-curricular activities were felicitated by Chairman Sahakara Ratna, Mr. Anil Lobo.
The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy members, viz., Mr. Ronald Crasta, Mrs. Sapna Crasta, Mr. Naveen Lobo, and Mr. Sunil Siddi, were recognized for their presence with bouquets, shawls, and mementos.
The “indefatigable crusader” of Konkani, Vishwa Konkani Kala Ratna, Mr. Eric Ozario, was felicitated with a shawl, garland, and fruits for his tireless work towards preserving the culture and heritage of the Konkani language. Mrs. Irene Lobo read the “mann part” and handed it over to Mr. Eric Ozario.
In response to the felicitation, Mr. Eric Ozario thanked the Bank for honoring him. He praised Chairman Mr. Anil Lobo for his creative and thought-provoking ideas towards celebrating Konkani Manyatha Divas. He called upon the gathering to support MCC Bank as it supports artists and well-wishers.
Chairman Mr. Anil Lobo also felicitated the artists who performed during the program.

Rodrigues, Mr. Roshan Dsouza, Mrs. Irene Rebello, Dr. Freeda Dsouza, Mr. David Dsouza, Mr. Herald Monteiro, Dr. Gerald Pinto, Mr. Anil Patrao, Mr. Vincent Lasrado, Mr. Melwin Vas, Mr. Elroy Crasta, Mr. C.G. Pinto, Mr. Sushanth Saldanha, Mr. Felix Dcruz, Mr. Alwyn P. Monteiro, Deputy General Manager Raj F. Menezes, and all the staff members were present for the celebration.
General Manager Mr. Sunil Menezes proposed the vote of thanks, and Mr. Vittori Karkal compered the program. All the staff members and their families were present for the program.
