Mcc Initiates Installation Of Trippers On Fuse Boxes Following Electrocution Incident

The electricity supply department of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), following directives from Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan, has commenced the installation of trippers on fuse boxes in cooperation with Mescom within the MCC limits. This urgent action follows the tragic deaths of two auto drivers who were electrocuted when an electricity cable fell on them behind Rosario School in the city on Wednesday night.

The installation work, which began on Friday, targets over 1,600 fuse meter boxes within the MCC limits. These trippers are designed to automatically cut off the electricity supply when an overhead wire gets disconnected, significantly reducing the risk of electrocution incidents. The project is expected to be completed within the next four days.

DC Mullai Muhilan emphasized the critical importance of this initiative for public safety. He also highlighted the need for prompt reporting of any broken or fallen electricity wires to the concerned authorities to prevent such tragic accidents in the future. MCC officials have urged the public to stay vigilant and cooperate by reporting any electrical hazards they encounter.

This proactive measure aims to enhance the safety of Mangaluru’s residents and ensure a rapid response to electrical emergencies, reinforcing the city’s commitment to public safety.
