Mangaluru: Moodabidri is set for a major boost in its commercial and residential landscape with the upcoming inauguration of the town’s first shopping mall, iCare City Mall, and the near-completion of the premium residential project, iCare Bell Street Palace. Both developments are spearheaded by iCare Builders & Developers, and are poised to meet long-standing demands from residents while attracting visitors and investors alike.

First mall in Moodabidri nearing completion

Located in the fast-growing Vidyagiri area, iCare City Mall is an eight-storey complex with two basement levels for parking. The highlight is its multifunctional Melash Banquet auditorium, already operational, with a seating capacity ranging from 200 to 1,200 people and state-of-the-art facilities.

According to the developers, 90% of the mall’s construction is complete, with a grand opening planned for December 2025. Once operational, it will feature two multiplex theatres — ending the need for movie lovers to travel to Mangaluru for cinema experiences — along with a food court, a hypermarket, and branded retail outlets.

Other attractions will include a bar, a restaurant, and suite rooms catering to tourists visiting Moodabidri, a city known for its rich cultural heritage and proximity to key attractions such as Karkala and Dharmasthala.

Filling a cultural and lifestyle gap

Moodabidri residents have long expressed the need for modern recreational spaces. Presently, the absence of cinema halls and large-scale entertainment venues has meant travelling significant distances for leisure activities. iCare City Mall aims to change that, providing not only shopping and dining options but also modern entertainment and event facilities.

Ashwin Joshi Perera, founder of iCare City Mall, noted that the project is designed to meet both local and tourist needs. “We are offering premium commercial spaces for brands and entrepreneurs, and those interested can visit the site to experience the facilities firsthand,” he said.

Apartments in prime location selling fast

Just as the mall nears completion, the iCare Bell Street Palace residential project, located near the Corpus Christi Church in Moodabidri, is also seeing high demand. Only a limited number of two- and three-bedroom flats remain available despite the project still being under construction.

The location offers unmatched convenience, with schools, colleges, religious centres, hospitals, markets, and public transport hubs within easy reach. This accessibility, combined with modern design, is making it a top choice for families and professionals.

Defying construction slowdown

While many projects in the region have stalled due to rising costs of materials like laterite stones and sand, iCare Bell Street Palace has maintained steady progress. Ashwin Joshi Perera explained that the aim is to complete the apartments on schedule to meet buyer demand.

Property analysts suggest that the value of these flats is expected to rise significantly in the near future, making them an attractive investment opportunity.

Boost for local economy

The twin developments are expected to generate jobs, attract retail investments, and increase tourism-related revenue for Moodabidri. Local businesses stand to benefit from increased foot traffic once the mall opens, and the influx of new residents will create demand for more services and amenities.

Both iCare City Mall and iCare Bell Street Palace reflect the changing face of Moodabidri — a town balancing tradition with rapid urbanisation.
