Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta has strongly criticised the Karnataka state government, accusing it of administrative failure and weak law enforcement following high-profile drug and terror crackdowns — both led by agencies from outside the state.

Citing two recent incidents — the seizure of 188 kg of MDMA worth ₹380 crore by Maharashtra Police in Mysuru and the arrest of an Al-Qaeda operative by Gujarat ATS in Bengaluru — Chowta claimed these operations exposed Karnataka’s failing internal intelligence and policing systems.

“When forces from Maharashtra and Gujarat are carrying out operations in Karnataka, it clearly signals a breakdown in governance under the Congress regime,” he said, alleging that the state is becoming a safe haven for criminal and anti-national elements.

Chowta also condemned the suspension of senior police officials over the RCB stadium stampede in Bengaluru, a decision later overturned by the Central Administrative Tribunal. He called the suspensions a political cover-up, stating that frontline officers were made scapegoats while systemic failures went unaddressed.

Further, the MP criticised the government’s alleged plan to dismantle the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF), warning that neglecting field intelligence would expose the state to ideological threats.

“This trend of punishing upright officers and sidelining critical intelligence is reckless,” Chowta said, urging the government to rebuild police morale and focus on national security over politics.
