A quiet residential locality in Belthangadi was shaken after a mysterious object exploded while children were playing, leaving a young boy injured and triggering anxiety among parents.

According to local residents, a group of children were playing in an open area near their homes when one of them reportedly picked up an unidentified object lying on the ground. Moments later, it exploded with a loud sound, causing injuries to the boy’s hand and face.

Police personnel rushed to the spot soon after being alerted. The area was cordoned off, and fragments of the object were collected for examination. Officials are now working to determine whether it was a discarded explosive substance, a country-made firecracker, or any other hazardous material.

Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious and report any suspicious objects found in public spaces.
