Mangaluru — Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded Mangaluru for its innovative and technology-backed organic waste management practices, calling it a model for urban sustainability during the 111th edition of his Mann Ki Baat address.
“Organic waste management is being done with the help of technology in Mangaluru,” the PM said, highlighting the city’s approach as a benchmark for others under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Mangaluru has implemented decentralised waste processing, encouraging source segregation and organic composting. These efforts have helped the city stand out in national cleanliness rankings and environmental performance.
The prime minister’s recognition has sparked pride across the city. A senior Mangaluru City Corporation official remarked, “This is a proud moment. The PM’s mention validates years of effort by our teams and citizens.”
The city continues to invest in sustainable waste solutions, aligning with national goals for cleaner, greener urban centres.
