Mangaluru: A viral video of an unidentified individual inspecting files at the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda) office has ignited public anger and led to a police case at Urwa police station. The footage, widely circulated on social media, has raised concerns about irregularities and alleged interference by brokers within the Muda office.

Muda chairman Sadashiva Ullal confirmed to TOI that immediate action was taken, with the commissioner of Muda filing a complaint under his directive. “The viral video shows a broker entering the office while officials were out for lunch and inspecting files. There are allegations on social media that the broker made corrections to a file. A detailed inquiry is underway to determine which file was tampered with,” he stated.

To address the issue, strict measures have been implemented to regulate public entry into the office. “Nearly 150 brokers operate as middlemen at Muda, often creating confusion and hampering the work of officials. To ensure smooth operations, public access is now restricted to afternoons between 3 PM and 5 PM. Applicants approaching directly without brokers are always welcome,” Ullal explained.

He further directed officials to avoid unnecessary delays in processing files and emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency. “The actions of brokers not only disrupt official work but also tarnish the office’s reputation. Immediate steps are being taken to prevent any recurrence of such incidents,” he added.

The investigation continues to uncover the details behind the broker’s actions, aiming to restore trust and streamline operations at Muda.
