The Undergraduate Society of Orthopaedics at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Mangalore, hosted ReAlign 2025—a pioneering event that seamlessly blended academic competition, OSCE simulation, and hands-on orthopaedics training. The one-day event attracted over 250 medical students from colleges across South India, offering them an engaging mix of theory, clinical reasoning, and practical exposure.
Originally envisioned as a quiz contest, the event expanded following student feedback stressing the need for hands-on Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) preparation. This led to the creation of a comprehensive program featuring three components: a competitive UG quiz, SCOPE—OSCE simulation, and Orthopraxis—skills workshops.
The quiz began with a screening round that shortlisted 18 teams from 15 colleges. The final round, hosted by Dr. Daivik T. Shetty (Senior Resident, Father Muller Medical College), tested knowledge and reflexes alike. KMC Mangalore clinched the title after an intense finale.
The SCOPE simulation, organized by the Department of Orthopaedics, offered a near-authentic OSCE experience. Students interacted with real patients and were assessed using checklists and scoring rubrics—bridging the gap between classroom learning and clinical examinations.
In Orthopraxis, participants rotated through practical stations focusing on tendon repairs, POP application, and skeletal traction techniques, including bone drilling. Under expert guidance, students gained vital skills with hands-on mentorship.
ReAlign 2025 set a new academic standard, equipping undergraduates with essential tools for clinical excellence and OSCE success.
