Puttur: Uppinangady police have arrested a long-absconding accused in connection with a 2021 criminal case. The individual, identified as Yathiraj (34) from Manjeshwar, had been dodging court appearances since 2022, despite the court issuing seven separate warrants for his arrest.
After a prolonged search, police finally located and apprehended him, presenting him before the court.
Given his consistent non-compliance with legal summons, a fresh case has now been filed against Yathiraj under Section 269 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 at the Uppinangady police station.
Authorities further revealed that Yathiraj is a suspect in several vehicle theft cases under the limits of Puttur Town, Bantwal Town, and Venoor police stations. Moreover, seven more criminal cases have been registered against him in Konaje, Kavoor, and Vittal jurisdictions.
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of his alleged criminal activities.
