Uppinangady forest officials have confiscated the meat of a sambar deer found stored in a refrigerator at a local residence, following the illegal shooting of the animal. Reports indicate that the deer was killed to celebrate the birthday of the son of one of the suspects involved.
Suresh, a resident of Gundya, and his accomplices are believed to have carried out the hunt. Acting on a tip-off, forest officials raided Suresh’s home, where they seized both the deer meat and the firearm used for the hunt. The suspects managed to escape by swimming across Gundya Lake, evading capture.
Authorities have registered a case and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
