Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has countered criticism of Karnataka’s guarantee schemes, pointing out a clear irony—those who didn’t vote for Congress are the biggest beneficiaries. Speaking at a BBMP scheme implementation meeting at Bharat Jodo Bhavan, he stated that while Mangaluru and Udupi offered limited electoral support, BJP supporters in these regions were among the first to line up for the benefits.
“If you oppose the scheme, have the courage to give up its advantages,” he said, directly challenging the opposition. Shivakumar expressed disbelief at individuals enjoying the schemes while openly opposing them. He emphasized that Congress’s guarantees focus on women and the youth, and these groups are also being empowered within scheme monitoring committees.
He called out hypocrisy in the opposition’s rhetoric and asserted that while political attacks may come and go, the impact of Congress’s work would stand the test of time.
Encouraging grassroots mobilisation, he urged Congress workers to conduct local awareness drives across wards and panchayats. He reminded party members that loyalty and ground-level involvement—not selfies with leaders—will secure future roles.
As ward reservations are to be finalized soon, he advised aspirants to build strong booth-level connections. He also urged them to collect their committee ID cards to gain official access to conduct door-to-door outreach.
Shivakumar closed by assuring that every dedicated worker will find a role, even if not immediately.
