After days of scorching summer heat, Dakshina Kannada finally experienced a welcome spell of rain on Wednesday evening, bringing much-needed relief to residents. However, along with the showers, several areas also witnessed mild hailstorms and thunderstorms.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall is expected to continue for two more days across the district.

In Kadaba, rain lasted for over half an hour, while Puttur city saw moderate showers, and other parts of the taluk experienced heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, in Belthangady taluk, Mundaje, Ujire, Kakkinje, Nada, and Dharmasthala were hit by a hailstorm accompanied by strong winds. Though the temperature drop was a relief, the stormy winds caused severe disruptions. More than 30 electricity poles were knocked down, resulting in power outages across multiple areas. Several trees also collapsed, adding to the destruction.

Authorities are working to restore electricity and clear debris as residents brace for more rainfall in the coming days.
