Kinnigoli: A serious road accident near Kerekad junction on the Kinnigoli–Mulki State Highway left three individuals — including a 2-year-old child — critically injured and admitted to Kinnigoli Hospital for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Nithil (25), Avinash (23), and Mruttin (2) — all residents of Thekkatte in Kundapura. All three were occupants of a car returning from Kateel, after a temple darshan.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was traveling towards Kundapura when a speeding car from the Mulki direction swerved suddenly — allegedly to avoid a pothole — and collided head-on with their vehicle.
The impact left the passengers in the Kundapura-bound car seriously injured, while three youths from Mulki in the other car escaped with minor injuries.
The dangerous pothole on this busy state highway is being blamed for the accident, and locals are urging authorities to repair the damaged stretch immediately to avoid further tragedies.
