Mangaluru: A compound wall collapsed in Maryhill late on the night of July 16, damaging several parked vehicles but fortunately causing no injuries.
The incident occurred around 11:15 p.m., reportedly due to intense rainfall in the area. Eyewitnesses said they heard a loud crash, after which residents rushed outside and found that the wall had crumbled onto vehicles parked below it.
As many as 8 to 10 two-wheelers and one car suffered significant damage when the structure gave way. Emergency response teams reached the spot shortly after being alerted and cleared the debris to avoid further risks.
While no one was hurt, the episode has sparked concern among residents regarding structural integrity and drainage maintenance, especially as the region continues to experience heavy monsoon showers.
Locals have urged authorities to inspect aging structures and improve stormwater management systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.
