Mysuru: House No 940, Swarna Vilas, Lakshmipuram, Mysuru has something to offer for all those who are unaware of Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s antecedents.
According to Jayalalitha’s elder brother Vasudevan, Jaya took birth on February 24, 1948 in the Mysuru bunglow and not in Melukote as some reports suggest.

“Swarna Vilas” was gifted to her mother Sandhya and father Jayaram by the then Maharaja of Mysuru Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, according to Vasudevan.

Jaya’s mother sold the bungalow to a private buyer when she moved to Bengaluru. “Swarna Vilas” became Lakshmipuram Sports Club over the years but has retained the original name at the entrance.
