Mysuru: Amid the ongoing winter session in Belagavi, tension has erupted in the District over border dispute on vandalising statue of freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna and burning of Kannada flags by a group of alleged Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) supporters reported, recently.
Federation of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum, District Kumbara Association, District Uppara Association, District Savita Samaja, Dalit Unions’ Confederation, District Madivala Association, District Vishwakarma Committee and Karnataka Shepherds’
Association, will jointly hold a mass protest on Friday December 24.
At a press meet held here on Tuesday December 21, Karnataka State Backward Classes Awareness Forum President K. S. Shivaram said, “This protest by us is to urge the authorities to take stringent action against the traitors involved in defacing and disrespecting the statue of a national hero and a patriotic leader, and burning the Kannada flag. MES must be banned for creating tension between two States.”
He added “On December 24, we will gather in front of Mysuru Palace premises and pay tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar statue, Goddess
Bhuvaneshwari and Sangolli Rayanna portraits and later rally towards Mysuru Deputy Commissioner’s Office.”
