Speaking to reporters, the party’s city unit president L. Nagendra stated that the state government increased the petrol and diesel rates as revenge for not supporting Congress in the Lok Sabha election. He accused the state government of “robbing the poor and middle-class families” in the name of implementing guarantee schemes.

“State exchequer has now become empty. To fill the exchequer, the state government increased the rate of all products and services. The life of the common man has become miserable,” he said. He also stated that if the state government did not respond to the protest, BJP would continue statewide agitation. The party rural district unit president, L. R. Mahadeva Swamy, and state vice-president M. Rajendra were present.
