Chamarajanagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has voiced its objections to the distribution of guarantee cards by the Congress party, alleging that the grand-old party is violating the model code of conduct by issuing such cards and making false promises to women voters. The BJP has formally lodged a complaint with Chamarajnagar district election officer Shilpa Nag, highlighting its concerns over this.

A team led by Former district BJP president G Narayan Prasad, who is also the election agent of BJP candidate S Balaraju, district spokesperson of the party Kadahalli Shivarudraswamy, advocate Mahesh, and BJP leaders N Manjunath and Ashwin filed the complaint with the deputy commissioner.

They alleged that the Congress leaders and party workers were collecting Aadhaar card details and mobile numbers of women voters while distributing guarantee cards. The Congress leaders are making false promises of fulfilling all the guarantees mentioned in the cards, which include Rs 1 lakh per year. These guarantees are not implementable and misleading in nature, they said, and they handed over videos to support their claims.

They charged that the Congress party’s workers, Sofia and Syed Tousif, were distributing guarantee cards illegally, luring rural women voters, claiming that the party would give Rs 1 lakh to them and Rs 1 lakh to the unemployed youth. The Congress party is misleading the voters by this act, and urged the concerned authority to take strict action against Congress candidate Sunil Bose.
