Chamarajanagara: The call of environmentalists to ban traffic from 6.00 pm to 6.00 am in Bandipur Wildlife san6ctuary has become even stronger as traffic till 9.00 pm is affecting the normal movement of wild animals.
The Bandipur National Park is situated on the border between Tamil Nadu and Kerala and thousands of inter-state vehicles ply on the Bandipur sanctuary route every day.
As many vehicles are not following the rules, the accidents continue to take place. In the past, deer, peacocks, wild boars and many other small wild animals have died after being hit by vehicles. However, on the night of Tuesday 13, an elephant died on the spot after a lorry hit a huge elephant which has angered the environmentalists.
