Chamarajanagara: Command Area Development Authority (CADA) President P. Nijaguna Raju has alleged that Chamarajanagara Congress MLA C. Puttaranga Shetty has been involved in illegal mining for the past 15 years and has earned crores of rupees. And he would file a complaint against him with Income Tax (IT) and Enforcement Department (ED).
Speaking to mediapersons here on Friday November 25, he said that MLA Puttaranga Shetty has accumulated a lot of assets beyond his source of income in just 15 years. He alleged that if the people of the constituency had voted for him to serve them, he had misused it and made illegal money for selfish purposes.
Nijaguna Raju said that the legislator has been mining for 42 years as he claims. In this case, it is clear that he has defrauded the Revenue and Income Tax Departments without properly informing them, he alleged and demanded Shetty issue a white paper about his dealing with the people of the constituency. Let there be an investigation into the illegal properties he has made, he challenged.
He demanded that there should be a comprehensive investigation in many other places including a quarry near Yarangballi, a quarry near Gumballi, 20 guntas of land in Shankarapura, a house on Court Road, a petrol station near Uppina Mole, in the name of his wife and children. He said that the BJP will launch a letter movement against the MLA and complain to the Revenue and Taxation Department and the Enforcement Directorate regarding illegal assets.
A few days ago, a businessman filed a suit of Rs. 9 Crore against MLA Puttaranga Shetty alleging fraud. However, the MLA denied the allegation.
