Chamarajanagar: In a tragic incident, a head teacher of a school lost his life after he touch a live wire while pruning a tree in the school premises.
The deceased is Mariswamy, head teacher of Government Higher Primary School at Karalamole of Jyothigowdanapura here.
On Friday afternoon, the head teacher plunged into school premises cleaning work. He decided to cop off the branches of a tree in the school premises. As he climbed the tree with a sickle in hand, he accidentally contacted a live wire and died atop the tree.
His colleagues who remember him as someone who paid utmost importance to cleanliness and hygiene in school say that unlike many other head teachers, Mariswamy toiled very hard in the school premises to maintain cleanliness and to impart ‘Swachata’ lessons to children.
Large number of locals thronged the school. Deputy Director of Public Instruction Manjula and other senior officials from the district were seen visiting the school after knowing that Mariswamy was no more.
