Mysuru: Police here have arrested a person, who used to mortgage pawned gold jewelleries at his shop with other mortgage shops for additional interest and jeopardised the assets of many of his trusted customers. In all, 580 grams of jewelleries worth Rs 22.25 lakhs has been seized by the police.
On a tip-off, Lashkar police nabbed the miscreant from rural bus stand, Mysuru and he has been identified as Manjunath (42) from Marigudi of Gundlupet town of Chamarajanagar district. He had his finance shop at Irwin Raod, Mysuru and used to attract customers by advertising on newspapers.
The case of cheating came to light, when a woman was cheated off 63 grams of gold jewelleries, mortgaged at his shop to help her son buy a car. After visiting twice to pawn the jewelleries, when she visited the third time to repay the money and get her jewelleries back, she found that the shop was closed. On her subsequent visits when she found the shop closed, she alerted the lashkar police through complaint of cheating against the person.
