Srirangapatana: The city saw a resurgence of criminal activity as commuters on the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway fell prey to daring robberies in two separate incidents on Saturday night.

During the first incident, a couple from Udupi district, Shivaprasad and Suma, were targeted by two individuals on bikes as they rested near a Bharat Benz Company at Naguvanahalli Gate. The armed culprits, donning full helmets to hide their identities, confronted the couple and forcibly took their 30-gram gold chain before making their escape.

In a strikingly similar event on the same night, Dr. Rakshit Reddy and his wife Dr. Manasa from Malur in Kolar district were changing a flat tire near Gowripura. Adopting the same modus operandi, criminals approached them, masked by helmets, and threatened them with a knife, leading the couple to surrender their 40-gram gold chain. The robbers then swiftly disappeared from the scene.

These successive incidents prompted the intervention of Mandya Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Yathish, who personally visited both crime scenes. The Srirangapatana Police have launched official investigations into both cases, actively pursuing leads and collecting evidence to apprehend those responsible. Authorities have also called on residents and commuters to maintain vigilance and promptly report any suspicious activities.
