Mysuru: Reacting to senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister SM Krishna resignation former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said that those who have self-respect will not stay in Congress party.
HD Kumarswamy who was in Suttur to take part in the valedictory function of annual six day Suttur Jathra Mahotsav, which concluded here on Sunday said: “The resignation of senior leader like SM Krishna is a big loss to the Congress party. “For the last three years, due to severe drought across the state farmers are facing lot of problems. Instead of spending on various irrelevant projects government should look into farmer’s woes and waive off their loans and start taking up programs to instill confidence among farmers,” he said further criticising the CM for his statement during inauguration of Suttur Jathra Mahotsav that if the farmers repay their loan principal amount by March then he would waive off their interest
“I don’t know whether Siddaramaiah is having any sense. When the condition of the farmers is compelling them to end lives, how can he expect them to pay their principal amount. When I was the chief minister, the budget I had was just Rs 39,000 crore but still I managed to waive off Rs 2500 crore farmers loan but now the present budget is Rs 1.76 lakh crore why can’t Siddaramaiah take initiative to waive off loan,” he questioned.
