Mysuru: Mysuru Dasara procession will be held on the lines of the Republic Day parade, said Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree.
During preliminary meeting of the Dasara Committee held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on August 26 to discuss the preparation for the Dasara festivities, she said, “In the annual Dasara procession, about 50 cultural troupes will participate. There is a rising demand for Dasara cultural programmes at the Mysuru Palace premises. Already more than 250 troupes have submitted their applications to participate from which the some will be selected to perform cultural programme. International, national and state troupes will also be considered for the cultural programme. Everyday three programmes will be performed from 6 pm to 9 pm at the Palace premises.”
The minister said that prior to Dasara festivities, the Kiru Rangamandira constructed at the Kalamandira premises will be inaugurated and will be used for the Dasara programmes. Prior to Dasara procession, for the first time, rehearsal will be conducted a day prior to main event.
Deputy Commissioner D Randeep, Commissioner of Police D A Subramanyeshwara Rao and others were present.
