Diwali celebrated by distributing study materials to needy

Mysuru: The Disabled and Tribals Empowerment Trust known as DATES which is run by the Railway staff at Mysuru for the aged, disabled and orphans landing on railway platforms, celebrated Deepavali by distributing study materials to Odanadi and Vimala Terminal Care Centre in Hinkal.

This Deepavali was really special as it was celebrated with care avoiding fire, spark and noise to the gleeful faces of the inmates of Odanadi and Vimala Terminal Care Centre. Vinayak R Nayak, Senior Divisional Operating Manager, South Western Railway, Mysuru was the chief guest and distributed the educational materials and festive food to the Odanadi inmates.

S Unnikrishnan, Divisional Engineer and V Anand, retired assistant operations manager were also present on the occasion for the donation of blankets and commode chairs with dinner to the inmates of Vimala Terminal Care Centre. This organisation run by by Railway Employees and like-minded people is functional since the past 15 years .

The trust members who are railway employees have rehabilitated and helped many orphans and aged people who were found wandering on railway station. They also managed to rescue many children who were found on platform.
