Dharwad: The Dr. Da Ra Bendre National Memorial Trust has announced the winners of the Bendre Book Award for 2017. The awards will be presented at a function in Dharwad on October 26.
The function will be held at Alur Venkata Rao Bhavan at 6 PM, on the day marking the 36th death anniversary of Da Ra Bendre, a release said.
The awards are given to the five best books published in 2016 and written by authors under 40 years of age. The award carries a purse of Rs 5,000 and a citation.
The books selected are: Hurigejje, a collection of poems by Rajkumar Madiwalar of Dharwad; Manasu Abhisarike, a collection of stories by Shanti K Appanna of Chennai; Kadala Kare, a translation of poetry in Malayalam by Kajuru Satish of Kodagu; Naanu Neevu Mattu, a collection of essays by Deepa Hiregutti of Koppa; and Samvedane, a collection of critiques by C S Bhimraya of Kalaburagi.
