Mysuru: In a major crackdown on administrative negligence, Lokayukta police raided ten government offices in Mysuru on Friday after receiving complaints about delays in issuing e-khatas. The surprise inspections exposed serious lapses in record handling and inefficiency among civic officials.

One of the most shocking discoveries came from the Srirampura Town Panchayat, where officials had allegedly stored government documents at a private residence. Lokayukta officers seized the files and are expected to recommend disciplinary action against those responsible.

At the Rammanahalli Town Panchayat, investigators uncovered nearly 2,000 e-khata applications still pending, many for months, reflecting the extent of bureaucratic apathy.

According to Lokayukta SP TJ Udesha, the raids were triggered by multiple public complaints about delays and indifference from officials regarding e-khata processing. Starting at 11 am, ten Lokayukta teams simultaneously searched four town panchayats, one city municipal council, and five zonal offices of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC).

As the raids progressed throughout the day, hundreds of unattended applications were found across various locations, confirming the widespread nature of the issue.

The Lokayukta department is expected to submit a detailed report recommending administrative and legal action against erring officials. The operation underscores the need for transparency, accountability, and timely service delivery in local governance.
