Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru D. Randeep has warned that stringent action would be initiated against retailers who hoard or cite a higher price for salt. Rumours of salt scarcity has hit the city and led to panic among the general public.
The DC in a release here on Sunday, said that there was enough stock of both sugar and salt to cater to public requirements in the district. The steady supply of sugar and salt has been affirmed after the meeting with the APMC traders on Saturday and there will be no hike in the price as well, he said.
A few of the traders in the urban areas who are resorting to hoarding or selling the stock for higher prices have been warned of stringent action, informed Randeep.
Public has been appealed to bring such instances of traders selling salt or sugar at a price higher than the stipulated rate, to Rameshwarappa, Deputy Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, on 0821-2422107.
