Mysuru: Five persons died in separate accidents in the district on August 26.
In the first accident, an auto rickshaw carrying 15 people swerved off the road and fell into a canal near Baleshwara Swamy Temple of Vatalu village in T Narsipur taluk killing 3 children.
The deceased child has been identified as Mahadevaprasad(5) a resident of Bundhalli under Yelandur limits of Chamarajanagar district. Putti (13) and a boy aged 5 are among the dead.
Around 13 people including children were travelling to Kannammadevi temple, when the mishap took place.Auto driver, who lost control over the vehicle is reported to have escaped from the spot.
Injured Mahadevamma, Shilasa and two-year-old child have been admmitted to K R hospital.

Two pedestrians die in separate incidents
Two sexagenarian pedestrians died when they were hit by speeding bikers, while walking along the road in Saligrama police station limits.
The deceased have been identified as Devamma (65), wife of Chikkegowda and resident of Haramballi village and Govinde Gowda (60), a resident of Kurubahalli.
In the first case Mahadev, biker from Anekannambadi village hit Devamma near the temple in Bheriya village. Devamma who sustained grievous injuries, failed to recover and succumbed at K R hospital. Reckless riding is said to be the cause for this accident.
In the other incident, Govinde Gowda (60), a resident of Kurubahalli, who was walking along the roadside in Mirle village, was hit by a speeding biker named Nitin.
A seriously injured Govinde Gowda was admitted to K R Nagar taluk hospital but unfortunately passed away.
A case has been registered in Saligrama police station in connection with both the cases.
